How to Use It
- Play a game at any crypto casino. Note the game type and the parameters the casino displays (win chance, payout multiplier, commission, RTP, etc.).
- Open the calculator and pick the game type from the tabs at the top (dice, crash, roulette, blackjack, plinko, slots).
- Enter the casino’s parameters. For dice, that means the win chance and payout multiplier. For crash, enter the commission percentage. For roulette, pick the wheel type.
- Read the results. The tool instantly shows you the house edge, RTP (return to player), expected loss per 100 bets, and a visual rating of how fair the game is.
- Check the loss projections. See how much you can expect to lose over 100, 500, 1,000 and 10,000 bets at your chosen bet size.
- Compare. Switch between games to find which one gives you the best odds at your casino.
If you also want to verify that a specific game result was not manipulated, use our provably fair verifier alongside this tool.
Why Verify With an Independent Tool?
Casino’s own claims
You are trusting the casino to report its own house edge accurately. If they wanted to mislead you, they could display a lower edge than they actually apply.
Independent calculator
Our code is public on GitHub. It runs client-side in your browser. Enter the casino’s actual parameters and calculate the real edge yourself. Nothing is sent to any server.
What Is House Edge?
House edge is the mathematical advantage the casino has on every bet you place. It is expressed as a percentage of each wager that the casino expects to keep over the long run.
A 1% house edge means that for every $100 you wager, the casino keeps $1 on average. Your return to player (RTP) would be 99%. Over 1,000 bets of $1 each, your expected loss is $10.
The key word is on average. In the short term, anything can happen: you might win big or lose fast. But over thousands of bets, results converge toward the mathematical expectation. That is why understanding house edge matters before you play.
How House Edge Is Calculated
Dice
Dice is the most transparent game in crypto casinos. You pick a win probability, and the casino offers a payout multiplier. The house edge is the gap between what a fair payout would be and what the casino actually pays.
Example: With a 50% win chance, the mathematically fair payout is 2.00×. If the casino offers 1.98× instead, the difference is 1%. That is the house edge. Most crypto dice games use a 1% edge, making them one of the best games for players.
Crash / Limbo
In crash games, a multiplier rises from 1× and can crash at any moment. You cash out before it crashes. The casino takes a commission (usually 1–4%) from the prize pool each round. This commission is effectively the house edge.
Roulette
Roulette’s house edge comes entirely from the zero slots. The more zeros on the wheel, the higher the edge.
That single extra zero on an American wheel nearly doubles the casino’s advantage. Always prefer European roulette when available.
Blackjack
Blackjack house edge depends on the specific rules: number of decks, whether the dealer hits soft 17, and whether blackjack pays 3:2 or the worse 6:5. Under the best common rules (8 decks, dealer stands on soft 17, 3:2 payout), the edge is approximately 0.46%, one of the lowest in any casino game.
Watch out for 6:5 blackjack tables. That single rule change adds roughly 1.39% to the house edge.
Slots & Plinko
For these games, the RTP is set by the game provider and is usually published in the game info screen. Our calculator lets you enter the stated RTP to see the real cost of playing over a session. Typical crypto slots have RTPs between 94–97%, while plinko games usually sit around 99%.
Typical House Edges Compared
| Game | House Edge | RTP | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🃏 Blackjack (8D S17 3:2) | 0.46% | 99.54% | Excellent |
| 🎲 Dice (1% edge) | 1.00% | 99.00% | Excellent |
| 🚀 Crash (1% fee) | 1.00% | 99.00% | Excellent |
| 📍 Plinko (typical) | 1.00% | 99.00% | Excellent |
| 🎡 European Roulette | 2.70% | 97.30% | Average |
| 🎰 Slots (typical) | 4.00% | 96.00% | Average |
| 🎡 American Roulette | 5.26% | 94.74% | Poor |
What Does House Edge Actually Cost You?
Here is what a player betting $1 per bet can expect to lose over time at different house edges:
| House Edge | 100 Bets | 1,000 Bets | 10,000 Bets |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1% (dice, crash) | -$1.00 | -$10.00 | -$100.00 |
| 2.7% (EU roulette) | -$2.70 | -$27.00 | -$270.00 |
| 4% (slots) | -$4.00 | -$40.00 | -$400.00 |
| 5.26% (US roulette) | -$5.26 | -$52.60 | -$526.00 |
The difference between a 1% and 5% house edge might seem small on a single bet, but it compounds dramatically over hundreds of bets. Choosing low-edge games is the single most impactful decision you can make as a player.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good house edge for a crypto casino game?
Anything under 2% is considered excellent. Most provably fair dice and crash games operate at 1%. Blackjack with optimal rules can be as low as 0.46%. Avoid games with edges above 5% unless you are playing purely for entertainment.
Is house edge the same as RTP?
They are two sides of the same coin. RTP (Return to Player) = 100% minus the house edge. A 1% house edge means 99% RTP. Our calculator shows you both.
Can I beat the house edge?
Over a large number of bets, no betting system can overcome the house edge mathematically. However, understanding the edge helps you choose better games, set realistic expectations, and manage your bankroll more effectively.
Does the house edge apply to every single bet?
The house edge is a long-term statistical average. On any single bet, you either win or lose. The edge describes what happens across thousands of bets. This is why short sessions can be profitable even on games with a house edge.
Why do crypto casino games have lower house edges?
Crypto casinos have lower operating costs than traditional casinos. There are no physical locations, teams are smaller, and cryptocurrency payments cut transaction fees. Many pass these savings on to players through lower house edges, especially on provably fair games like dice and crash.
